Chef Mustapha is passionate about creating simply good, fresh, flavorful food. I’m passionate about eating good, fresh, flavorful food. So I’m not sure who was more excited when we came up with the idea of his making an Iron Chef-style meal using only the ingredients that he could find in my humble kitchen. Give or take a few staples, Mu was working with chicken breasts, pasta, rice, black beans, tomatoes, kale, almonds, pears, cranberries, mozzarella cheese, pesto, cheddar cheese, potatoes, and various herbs and spices.

In no time, he whipped up a dopely delicious feast of sauteed chicken with cinnamon and other spices, a tomato pasta with basil, mozzarella and pesto, and my favorite: the sauteed kale salad with garlic, almonds, pears and cranberries.
